Prepare for fall with Karat®‘s new colorful enclosure lids

pink-enclosure-lid-(OPEN)C-KDL516-E-BROWN(OPEN)c-kdl516-e-green_02

Karat®’s new green, pink and brown enclosure lids are now available for purchase! With fall and winter right around the corner, these lids are a must have. Hot cups will once again be a common sight in and around coffee shops. The colors of these new lids are perfect for bringing in the cooler months.

Not only is pink pretty, it is the perfect shade for commemorating National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The brown and green colors will pair well with warm fall colors and the pleasing pine look of the holidays.

These lids are designed to keep customers from small spills and splashes. Although the opening at the top of most lids is very small, the contents of a hot cup have the tendency to splash out while walking or driving. No one wants to feel their hot cup of coffee, tea or cocoa on their skin or on their clothes. With the enclosure lids, this won’t happen!

Karat’s traditional enclosure lids have a small flap over the sipper, so that customers can close the cup up while carrying it. Customers can also choose to close it only slightly so that they can still drink from their cup with the flap closed.

These lids are available for 10-24 oz. cups. For more information, contact your sales representative.

Tea Zone® popping pearls please taste buds

Tea Zone®, the leading supplier of bubble tea supplies, is gaining more attention through some of its signature products.

Tea Zone’s claim to fame, of course, is its boba and mini boba. Recently, a new craze has delighted American taste buds: Tea Zone’s popping pearls, also known as bursting boba or popping boba.

Tea Zone popping pearls have become somewhat of a spectacle for those who have come across them.

Strawberry popping pearls

Popping pearls are delicious balls of flavored juice, contained by a thin, gummy-like shell. Once the pearls are bitten, a sudden burst of flavor explodes onto taste buds. The pearls are about 3/8 inch in diameter and the exterior of the pearl is made of seaweed extract.

Samples of popping pearls on top of a vibrantly colored slush were given out to attendees at the NRA Show last May. Some were excited, thinking they were getting a taste of Tea Zone’s well renowned boba. Others at first rejected the free sample, saying they weren’t fans of the round, squishy tapioca balls.

Those brave enough to try were stunned by the sudden burst of flavor.

These pearls are delicious on top of frozen yogurt or inside any tea, smoothie or slush. They come in 13 scrumptious flavors, including: mango, lychee, green apple, orange, passion fruit, strawberry, yogurt, blueberry, cantaloupe, cherry, peach, kiwi and pomegranate.

Popping pearls’ flavors and brilliant colors aren’t the only selling point. Unlike boba, popping pearls do not need to be cooked and there is no preparation needed. All popping pearls from Tea Zone are ready to serve from the jar. This makes popping pearls a fast and easy topping for customers to enjoy.

The craze is catching on to very notable businesses, which are using the popping pearls in various ways, creating their own Asian fusion cuisine without even realizing it.

Take your pick: Tea Zone® offers many teas for many tastes

Tea is definitely not “one taste fits all.” There are many kinds, and everyone may prefer something different. That’s why Tea Zone® offers several different types of tea that can be used to create customized beverages that will win over customers’ taste buds.

Teas have been around for centuries, and are now a beverage of choice for many, whether served hot or iced. It is said to be the most widely consumed beverage in the world, according to the Tea Association of the U.S.A. Inc.

What is boba?

On the timeline of popular food items, Boba is newer than chicken wings but older than the Cronut.

Its origin is said to have come from a woman named Lin Hsiu Hui, who was the product development manager of the Chun Shui Teahouse in Taichung, Taiwan in the 1980s, according to CNN.

She brought her tapioca pudding with her to a staff meeting, and poured it into her iced tea. It has been a craze in Taiwan ever since, and has spread around the world.

Boba is a squishy and delicious way of adding some texture to a drink. It can be added to slushes, milk teas, iced coffee and even hot coffee.

Boba, also known as tapioca pearls, are small balls of tapioca made from the starch of the cassava root.

The pearls come in two size: regular, which are 1/4 inch in diameter, and mini, which are 1/8 in diameter. They do not naturally have any flavor, but can be infused with flavoring to make them sweet.

Lollicup is known for marinating its boba in a concoction of longan honey, brown sugar and hot water. This gives the boba a lightly sweetened taste and a dark brown color. Green tea infused boba is also quite popular.

Be sure to try some in a drink if you haven’t already!

One of the many perks of purchasing from Lollicup, are the training sessions. Lollicup offers customers training in its central kitchen at its Chino HQ.

Lollicup’s certified trainers demonstrate how to make tasty Lollicup beverage items, as well as train customers to use ingredients from its vendors like Cappuccine, Big Train and more.

A perk of being a Lollicup USA employee: getting to participate in training.

Last week, the central kitchen offered two Boba 101 training sessions for employees who wanted to sign up. This class is often known as “Boba School.”

Wednesday’s class, which was instructed by central kitchen barista Jonelle Berberabe, was packed with 9 employees from various departments—all excited to learn how to make some Lollicup favorites.

The kitchen was warm. Fires burned underneath many large pots and pans. Some filled with food being prepared for lunchtime, some still containing foods from breakfast. Sizzles and crackles accompanied sounds of stirring and sifting.

For Boba 101 students, aroma was the most prominent sense as Tea Zone black tea, green tea, and milk tea were passed around for everyone to smell.

The official course began with cooking boba and brewing the three teas. Hot water is boiled and poured into each tea bucket. Once the tea leaves are drained, the teas are refrigerated.

Following the cooking portion of the class, boba school students got to taste basic green tea, black tea and milk tea. Then they got a lot more creative.

Sesame Almond Milk Tea, Raspberry Milk Tea and many others were created per Jonelle and the students’ request. The scent of Tea Zone’s almond powder was powerful enough to create an instant craving—at least for those who like almonds.

After specialty teas were made, slushes were next on the list. Honeydew, peach, raspberry, and kiwi were just a few flavors created and taste tested.

By the end of it, boba students seemed pleased with what they learned, despite their sugar high.

Many of Lollicup’s 200+ employees came to show off their company to family and friends.

Excited, casually dressed employees and their loved ones checked in, asking about all the event had to offer.

A giant white tent sat above seating for guests, tables full of soda-making ingredients, snacks, and tons of water.

Panda Express and Tacos were served to hungry attendees, and Mustache Mike’s Italian Ice helped take the edge off of the California heat. The DJ played party favorites as adults and children enjoyed all of the inflatable activities offered.

Giant plastic zorb balls—which are essentially human sized hamster balls—rolled around the premises and an inflatable slide and boxing ring were also available to the guests.

Children excitedly made their way to the free face painting clown, and came out with brightly colored faces and elaborate balloon sculptures.

Tours of the production plant were held and showed the PET cup making process, as well as the paper cup forming process. Many were intrigued by the machines’ ability to mass produce products so quickly.

Toward the end of Family Day, Lollicup CEO and co-founder Alan Yu spoke about the success and growth of the company and the hard work that has gone into its success.

This year so far, Lollicup has experienced significant growth and is already expanding its warehouse space in Chino, CA after only one year of the U.S. plant’s production. Lollicup also has plans to expand in other areas of the United States.
